Wedding Bells

My very first client! =) I've never made a wedding invitation before, but my client provided specific instructions and colors which made it easier to design. I was given a sample of the design she was looking to replicate and was able to match the colors from the sample using this website: www.colr.org. It's a fun tool and I highly recommend it if you need to do color matching.

I'm still looking for more side work since class doesn't begin until the end of March. If anyone has projects they need assistance with, send them my way! =)

Starving Artist

Mission: Logo

This is one of my first attempts to make a logo. I have to say working on a small scale is not easy. I got into the mode of working on posters and large-scale projects that I forgot to simplify. Anyhow, this is my final draft and I placed it into my portfolio. It was definitely a good start into practicing logo development. Class is done and I now have a break until February. Shweet!

35th Hour

Mission: Event Poster

This is a poster I created for the San Francisco Zoo - Wild Nights Program (the quality is better in Illustrator). After 35 hours of pumping out sketches, comps, and proofs, I was finally able to finish my poster. This project taught me the true meaning of progress.

All my classmates said my poster was very "cute," exactly what I was going for. Now, it's time to try Cool. haha.

vDream

My friends' Facebook App just launched today. Check it out! It's called vDream Racing. My friends were gracious enough to let a newbie like myself design a race track for them to include in their app. I must say it took me hours to design in AI, but it was good practice.

Vote for vDream once a day until Nov.30. If my friends get enough votes, they'll win a $200,000 grant to start their own business! Help my friends turn this vDream into reality. Vote!

Hello my name is...

First assignment: name tags

I had my first client who just so happened to be my classmate, Khristine. Her three main passions in life are yoga, mountain biking and photography. I tried incorporate all three of these as elements of the design, but later learned that should have just stuck with one idea. Either way, I got some good feedback about my contrast and type solution (font). Everything's off to a good start. =)

Below is the one my classmate, Khristine, made for me:

Round 2

My Graphic Design Studio II class started this past Wednesday. In this class I'll be learning about advertising, business identity, designing logos, brochures, and packaging. I'm really excited to start some new projects and I hope this class will help me further develop my portfolio.

I'm also looking forward to working with my new instructor. She's got a lot of personality and experience. I hope she can provide the guidance I need to succeed in this field.

Be on the lookout for new photos of my work. =)

The Final Critique

This is why I don't blog. I can't keep up with it! Anywho, below is some of the artwork I presented at the final critique. After seeing all my work posted on the wall I realized I don't have a particular style just yet, but I like that. My style changes depending on what type of medium I'm using -- pen, pencil, charcoal.

I ended up getting an A in this class. Woohoo! Next semester, I'm going to focus primarily on the graphic design work. I still have so much to learn and I hope I can get a few gigs soon. Gotta get the creative juices flowin'.
